Organically grown and sustainably harvested.
Botanical Name: Angelica
This member of the Apiaceae family grows in damp soil, near running water, and along woodland edges. Angelica roots are aromatic and considered to have spicy, bitter, and warming energetics. Angelica root can be infused as tea, tinctured, and used as a flavoring in liquors.
Angelica is the European cousin of the more familiar dong-quai. The plant has an intense yet sweet aroma more like carrots than like dill or fennel.
Angelica is used for heartburn, intestinal gas, loss of appetite, arthritis, circulation problems, respiratory issues, nervousness, and insomnia.
Precautions:
Do not consume angelica preparations during pregnancy. The furanocoumarins in the herb may increase photosensitivity to UV radiation. Do not use this herb if you take anticoagulant medications due to a risk of uncontrolled bleeding.
