Uva Ursi Leaf

Organically grown and sustainably harvested.

Botanical Name: Arctostaphylos uva ursi

Uva Ursi, also known as common bearberry because bears eat the plant’s red berries, has a long history of use by Native Americans. The leaves, which contain astringent tannins, arbutin and hydroquinone, are traditionally used to make poultices, salves and other topical preparations.

Uva Ursi contains tannins that have astringent effects, helping to shrink and tighten mucous membranes in the body. In turn, it helps reduce inflammation and fight infection. Today, uva ursi is used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs) and cystitis (bladder inflammation).
