Post Exercise Restore Tea

Enjoy this revitalizing tea after working out to restore energy, soothe tired muscles, and reduce inflammation. Tumeric and a little honey help to balance your blood sugar, while damiana and lemon balm induces a relaxing sense of wellbeing.

Meadowsweet is an anti-inflammatory and contains salicylates, which provide an aspirin-like effect, particularly in relieving achy muscles. Note also that meadowsweet is not suitable for people who are allergic to aspirin. 

Licorice contains various beneficial plant compounds that contain anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and antimicrobial properties Taken in large quantities, licorice may exacerbate high blood pressure, so it is best avoided if this applies to you. 

Wild yam root helps to balance blood sugar and improves cholesterol levels.

Studies suggest that passionflower works by increasing gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain. GABA is a naturally-occurring amino acid that reduces activity in the central nervous system. This results in relaxation, enhanced mood, better sleep, and pain relief.

Peppermint has anti-inflammatory benefits. After exercise peppermint provides relief to tight, aching muscles and boosts mental clarity. Peppermint is also good for any bruises or scrapes you may have gotten during your workout.

Steeping:

Amount of water will vary with desired taste.

Pour 1 cup of hot water over 1 tablespoon of tea. Allow to steep for 10 minutes, then strain. Sweeten with a little honey. Multiply recipe for a larger batch.
