Bilberry Leaf

Organically grown and sustainably harvested.

Botanical Name: Vaccinium myrtillus

Bilberry is a shrubby, perennial native to Europe and the British Isles. Referred to as the European blueberry, bilberry has small, edible, blue fruits and astringent leaves. For centuries, Bilberry leaf was employed in traditional European medicine for wellness support. Bilberry leaf can be used in external applications or infused in herbal tea. Additional common names include huckleberry and whortleberry.

The berries and leaves are the parts of the plant that are used. Historically, bilberry has been used for a variety of conditions, including diarrhea, inflammation of the mouth, urinary problems, and diabetes. It's also been used traditionally to prevent scurvy, due to its high vitamin C content. Bilberry may improve short-term memory, navigational skills, balance, and coordination. Compounds in bilberries may help aging neurons communicate again.
