Monthly Magic Tea

If you're troubled by menstrual cramps, this tea will help to relieve the discomfort. Antispasmodic Cramp Bark relieves pain by relaxing the uterine muscle. Lady's Mantle is an ally for an array of menstrual ailments. Its astringent nature makes it helpful in stanching excessive menstrual flow in cases of menorrhagia, excessive menstrual flow and metrorrhagia, when menstrual bleeding happens at irregular times in between menstruation.

In Chinese medicine, Angelica is considered both a blood mover and blood nourisher. This means it’s a great herb to move and circulate blood flow before the period starts so as to prevent cramping. And once the bleeding is finished, it can nourish the body by helping rebuild the lost blood. It can relax the uterus when it is in a contracted state (e.g. during cramps). This means it can help calm cramps and reduce pain. Angelica has been shown to have similar effects to Aspirin.

Ginger is a wonder herb that can effectively ease menstrual cramps. This herb plays a key role in lowering the levels of the pain-causing prostaglandins. It also helps fight fatigue associated with premenstrual syndrome and can make irregular periods regular.

As an emmenogogue, Motherwort acts as a uterine tonic which helps to regulate menstruation, bring on delayed periods and can reduce smooth muscle cramping – particularly menstrual cramps.

Motherwort can also help relieve premenstrual tension and discomfort. Most menstrual cramps are partially due to inadequate circulation in the pelvis. Motherwort may help calm menstrual pain by both reducing spasms in the uterus and improving blood flow to the pelvis.

Raspberry leaf has traditionally been used to support female reproductive health. From reducing PMS cramping, regulating periods and supporting fertility, to preparing for labor at the end of pregnancy, and easing transition through menopause. It has been shown in many studies to support women's reproductive life.
