Begin Here - Therapy Box

Begin Here

A ritual box for arrival, presence, and gentle beginnings.

Created by an artist–herbalist and a couples therapist, Begin Here offers a slower way in—through touch, scent, reflection, and care. This is not therapy and not a checklist. It’s an invitation to pause, soften, and reconnect with yourself at your own pace.

What This Is

Begin Here is a thoughtfully curated ritual box designed to support connection—with yourself first, and with others over time.

Inside, you’ll find simple, sensory offerings alongside words meant to be read slowly. Nothing needs to be done in order. Nothing needs to be finished. This experience is meant to meet you where you are.

This box is for:

  • People who feel drawn to ritual, reflection, and embodied care

  • Those navigating change, tenderness, or curiosity

  • Singles, couples, and anyone in between

This box is not therapy.
It is not prescriptive.
It is an offering.

Who We Are

We are Leslie and Laura—two women working in different caregiving fields who share a deep respect for slowness, presence, and relational care.

Leslie Pearson is a multimedia artist, herbalist, educator, and the founder of Curate Essentials. Her work bridges fiber-based art, plant knowledge, and community-centered ritual. Through her studio practice and Curate Essentials—an herbal apothecary, teaching garden, and community arts space—Leslie creates environments where people can reconnect with their bodies, their senses, and the wisdom held in materials and plants.

Laura Lawyer is a seasoned therapist and couples therapist in private practice, and the founder of A Peace of Mind Counseling. Trained through the Gottman Institute, her work centers on emotional safety, repair, and the everyday practices that help trust and intimacy endure. She has spent years supporting individuals and couples as they learn to soften defenses, notice patterns with compassion, and reconnect with themselves and one another.

Together, we created Begin Here as a space between our worlds—where ritual and relationship meet, and where care is offered without pressure.

Why We Made This

So many people are longing for connection, but feel overwhelmed by advice, self-improvement language, or the sense that healing must be done “correctly.”

We wanted to create something different.

Something that honors the body’s pace.
Something that feels safe, grounded, and alive.
Something that doesn’t ask you to perform your healing.

Begin Here was shaped to be met slowly—whether you open it all at once or return to it over time. It’s meant to be lived with, not completed.

Inside the Box

Each Begin Here box includes a small collection of sensory and reflective offerings—chosen to support presence, pleasure, and gentle attention.

You’ll find:

  • A grounding herbal tea

  • A moment of sweetness

  • An offering for touch

  • A simple ritual candle

  • Printed words meant to be read slowly

Every element is included with intention. Nothing is there by accident.

How to Use This Box

There is no correct way to begin.

Start with the tea—or don’t.
Light the candle—or let it wait.
Read a little, then pause.

You don’t need a plan.
You don’t need a mood.
You don’t need to finish anything.

Let this be enough to start.
