Wild Petunia is a perennial herbaceous plant native to the central and southeastern United States. Known for its vibrant lavender to purple trumpet-shaped flowers, this plant is a favorite in naturalistic gardens and landscapes. Wild Petunia is excellent for use in perennial borders, wildflower gardens, and rock gardens. It attracts beneficial insects such as bees and butterflies and provides a splash of color in naturalized landscapes.

Appearance:

  • Leaves: The leaves are lance-shaped, covered with fine hairs, and arranged oppositely on the stem. They are typically medium green and measure about 1-3 inches (2.5-7.5 cm) in length.
  • Flowers: The flowers are funnel-shaped, about 1-2 inches (2.5-5 cm) across, and are usually lavender, purple, or blue. They bloom from late spring to early fall.
  • Size: This plant typically grows to a height of 1-2 feet (30-60 cm) and spreads about 1-1.5 feet (30-45 cm) wide.
